About VoteRoyale
VoteRoyale is a voting site. It settles arguments nobody has ever settled — pineapple on pizza, the most beautiful cat in the world, which country cooks best — by actually counting voices, one at a time, and showing the result live.
Where the idea came from
These arguments have always existed, and they replay every week: at dinner tables, in comment threads, in stories. What was missing was somewhere the count held. Not a poll deleted after twenty-four hours, not an article asserting a result without showing its method, but a public, permanent counter that accumulates and keeps a record of what happened. That is what this site does, and it is all it does.
How we count
Every visitor gets one free voice per day. It renews at midnight where they are, not at midnight on our servers — so someone in Montreal and someone in Marseille do not get theirs at the same moment. Extra voices can be bought in packs, and that is what keeps the site running. A purchased voice is worth exactly the same single point as a free one: paying changes how often you can speak, never how much your vote weighs.
All counting happens server-side. Each vote consumes a single-use token issued in the page, which makes replaying a vote impossible; the free voice is capped at one per device per day; abnormal bursts are detected afterwards and the voices involved are removed from the scores. We never store an IP address in clear text: it is turned into a non-reversible fingerprint used solely for that detection.
What we will not do
We do not seed any counter. No score has been inflated, simulated or "warmed up", including on launch day, when every match showed zero. A debate showing few voices has received few. Until a match has enough participants, we prefer to show a balance of power in percentages rather than a total that would look like a verdict.
Voices never pay anything back. There is no prize, no jackpot, no draw and no redistribution: money spent here buys the right to speak more often, and does not come back in any form. That is not a turn of phrase — it is the line separating a voting site from gambling, and we will not go near it.
We do not open matches about private individuals. Public figures may appear in a ranking on the basis of their work; nobody else. Every match proposed by a visitor is reviewed before publication, according to the match charter.
